Great for tax time — the annual income/expense report saves hours

I'm a freelancer with income from multiple sources and tax time used to be a nightmare of spreadsheet reconciliation. MoneyWise AU's annual tax summary report exports all income and deductible expense categories in a format my accountant can use directly, saving me roughly 4-5 hours of prep work. The work-from-home expense tracker (premium) is particularly useful. The app correctly identified my home internet subscription as a potential deduction and prompted me to categorise it properly. Support responded to my billing question within 2 hours via in-app chat, which was good. The app sometimes misses transactions for 20-30 minutes after they appear in my bank — not a big deal but worth noting.

CDR bank connection is fast and secure — no more screen scraping concerns

As someone who works in financial services, the old screen-scraping approach to bank connections always concerned me from a security standpoint. MoneyWise AU's implementation of the Consumer Data Right (CDR) is properly done — OAuth-based consent, clear permission scope, and easy revocation. The Westpac and CommBank connections established in under 2 minutes each. Transaction sync is near real-time. The net worth tracker (linking bank accounts, mortgage, and super via CDR) gives a genuinely complete financial picture. My only complaint is that CBA credit card transaction descriptions are messy and categorisation accuracy drops for those compared to my transaction accounts. The app team has acknowledged this is a CBA data quality issue, which is fair.

Finally understand where my money goes — transformed my budgeting

I've tried four budgeting apps over the years and deleted all of them within a month. MoneyWise AU is the first one I've kept for over a year. The automatic transaction categorisation is impressively accurate — I'd estimate 92% of my transactions are categorised correctly without me touching them. The spending trend graphs make it obvious where money is leaking. I discovered I was spending $380/month on takeaway food I had mentally budgeted at $120. The Financial Health Score gives me a single number I can actually act on. The bank connection via CDR feels much more secure than the old screen-scraping approach of competitor apps. The premium tier at $9.99/month is worth it for the cashflow forecast alone, which has helped me avoid two overdraft situations.
